Mapping and evaluation of the contribution made by the voluntary and community sector to achieving the outcomes of Every Child Matters in RBKC, and their capacity to provide and contract for children’s services under a new commissioning process and SLA regime, as part of the borough’s development of its Children and Young People’s Strategic Plan, and review of its online Childrens Services Directory.
This included a primary mapping exercise (using 1,000 questionnaires and interviews) to identify all VCS organisations in the borough working wholly or partially with children and young people. We worked closely with the Council’s IT department firstly to identify all sources of existing information, then to ensure that all data capture was compatible with the Council’s data systems, and an analysis of existing voluntary sector organisational infrastructure and capacity within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), as an aid to future service planning; and to infer from this the general capacity for delivery of services for children and families, and potentiality for contracting between the Local Authority and voluntary organisations.
