Voluntary Action Lewisham

Extended project to train, undertake market research and facilitate the development of new charged-for services and social enterprises.

Formed in 1967 Voluntary Action Lewisham (Lewisham CVS or “VAL”) is an independent charitable organisation that supports the voluntary and community sector in the London borough of Lewisham.

VAL is a member of the national network of Councils for Voluntary Service called the National Association for Voluntary and Community Activity (NAVCA). ItĀ helps groups working to deliver services directly to local people. The main functions of VAL are to

  • Lead discussion and promote action that will enable sector organisations to respond to the challenges of change
  • Improve the way sector organisations are represented and have a voice
  • Provide tailored support to meet the different needs of local groups
  • Champion new ways of working together
  • Strengthen the VCS role in shaping local statutory policy and use of resources
